Flight Simulation At home, everyone can fly a plane
Flight Simulation has evolved rapidly over the least few years. Today, everyone can fly a plane that realistically models most features and functions on the home computer or laptop. Have you ever dreamed of flying a large A340 over the atlantic to the U.S. West Coast? How about a small trip over the Swiss Alps? Flight Simulation makes it possible.
The software
To fly on your computer, you will need to install a software that let's you get started. These applications are called «flight simulator» and are released by various manufacturers. Most of our pilots are using Microsoft Flight Simulator, which is available for Windows. A smaller number of people use X-Plane by Laminar Research which can be installed on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
The peripherals
We recommend that you purchase a joystick, pedals and a throttle quadrant to fly with the flight simulator. This will give you a more realistic feel and help you fly more smoothly. This equipment may be expensive, so you may want to start with a joystick first. If you are unsure, we will often showcase models during our roadshows.
Sceneries
To experience the true beauty of the Swiss Alps and Lakes, the vast plains India, the endless dunes of the Sahara and the other beautiful landscapes of this planet you will want to install improved sceneries into your flight simulator. Swiss VirtualAirline will regularly review these sceneries and compile them for you.
The SWISS Fleet
Virtual aviation let's you fly any plane you want. To experience the most of our Virtual Airline, we will recommend the best virtual plane models that you can install into your flight simulator. Some of them are free, others come at a premium. Swiss VirtualAirline will always try to get these planes at a discount for it's flight crew members.
